Gas Pains, Part II

Well today I filled my car and had a Brazilian wax. I honestly can't tell you what was the more painful experience.

When I wrote Gas Pains I on May 4th, I complained about paying $3.49 per gallon for Gas. Seventeen days later I paid $3.85 per gallon. Its the same station and everything.

In the Boston suburbs where I live, the cost of gas has gone up 80 cents in the past twelve months, and almost 35 cents in the past few weeks.

I know some of my British readers have sent in their complaints. But I just want to note that my health insurance went up 5%, and the only reason my company got off that cheap was that I raised the DR Visit copay by $10, the ER copay by $40, and raised the Rx prices. And its still a crappy HMO.

How much longer is this going to last? I was never extravagant about driving around, but I am really shaving my driving to the least amount possible.

How are my friends in Blogland dealing.

My wife, for her own reasons, does not want to reveal where we live, but we are paying in the $3.79 range. As everywhere else, the price seems to shoot up on a weekly, if not daily, basis.
My eight year old daughter and I will be in Boston next month. I spent a great deal of time as a kid summering in Boston (Wellesley) and the Cape, but I've not been for several years. What is the one MUST for an eight year old girl to see or do in Boston?

Drinking heavily? No. Kidding on that one.

I was listening to the news, and they were saying how our fuel economy in the U.S. is about half that of most European cars. So we're really paying just about the same-- $7-8 per gallon, factoring in the distance we can drive on a tank of gas.

I was talking about this with my husband, we both just chalk it up to the cost of living and bite the bullet. There's no way to get to work otherwise.

hwh: It depends on what she likes to do. I take my seven year old to the Museaum of Science, or the Children's Museaum. He also likes the duck boats, or just riding the trolley around and hanging out with mom.

MsI: I know there is nothing you can do, but it still amazes me how fast its going up.

As long as Bush and his oil buddies are in office gas will be sky high. Jan 2009 can't get here soon enough.
